Color Tableaux
This series of dyed cotton flags explore both the horizon and the boundless qualities of color. Rectangles and vivid colors form imagined skylines, fusing elements found in design and minimalist painting. However, the extensive process of cutting, sewing, and hand dyeing—inherently defined as craft work and traditionally considered a female role—re-contextualizes the clean, straight lines explored in minimalism. The content, process, and installation present contradicting forces. Color Tableaux exist in the spaces between.
